At the time of the project appraisal, the project involved the construction of four small hydropower plants in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina with a total capacity of 53 MW. Ultimately, two small hydropower plants (run-of-river power plants) were built with a total capacity of 34 MW, consisting of a dam, intake conduit/tunnel, lock, power house, transformer station/switchboard plant and a high-voltage line to transport the energy produced.
