    Key objective: stabilise the country

Map of Pakistan with its capital Islamabad

For some years now, Pakistan has made frequent appearances in the headlines. The strengthening of Islamic movements , terrorist attacks and religiously motivated violence are making the country increasingly instable. The economic situation has significantly worsened too. This is partly due to the risky security situation and the growing political uncertainty, but for a long time there has also been a lack of urgently needed reform in politics and the economy. To drive these reforms forward, KfW is supporting the Pakistani government in the fields of energy supply, health care, good governance and financial system development – thereby helping to tap unused development potential.
