On the following pages you will find presentations, articles and conference documents relating to KfW events for download.
Among the many KfW events, the annual financial sector development symposia play a very special role as they promote and disseminate the knowledge in Development Finance in general and Financial Systems Development in particular through the participation of high ranking experts from all over the world.

Selected experts prepare studies on a specific focal topic of the symposium and present its results as a basis for the panel discussions in which international guests exchange experiences and knowledge.

For the past several years now, this symposium format has offered an appropriate platform for an intense knowledge exchange with experts while at the same time giving our partner organisations the opportunity to contribute their viewpoints to the discussion.

The following topics were addressed at past years' financial sector symposia:

  • 2011: Protection against Climate of Change "Insurance for Development - Protecting Emerging Economies and their People in a Climate of Change"
  • 2010: Rural finance ("Finance for Food - Towards New Agricultural and Rural Finance")
  • 2009: Financial crisis ("Preserving Access to Finance during the Global Crisis")
  • 2008: Environmental finance ("Greening the Financial Sector - How to Mainstream Environmental Finance in Developing Countries?")
  • 2007: Structured financing instruments ("Mobilising Capital for the Poor - What can Structured Finance Contribute?")
  • 2006: Housing finance ("Financing Housing for the Poor: Connecting Low-Income Groups to Markets")
