Overview
How Can Microfinance Reach More People and Offer More Services?
2005 International Year of Microcredit
Organised to celebrate the UN?s International Year of Microcredit, the 2005 Financial Sector Development Conference is a joint initiative of AfD, CGAP, DFID FMO, BMZ and KfW Entwicklungsbank.
Building on the UN declaration of the 2005 International Year of Microcredit, the conference aims to catalyse new partnerships between microfinance institutions, private banks, money transfer services, information technology specialists, and insurers. These ventures have the potential to provide social and financial returns for investors, while providing badly needed financial services to low-income households around the world.
The conference programme will consist of three pillars and the entire concept paper can be found here.
- Pillar 1: Partnerships to Leverage Private Equity
- Pillar 2: Technology Partnerships to Scale Up Outreach
- Pillar 3: Partnerships to Mobilise Savings and Manage Risk
