Effectively shaping gender equality the financial sector

The German government has made gender equality an integral part of its development cooperation, including in the financial sector. Nevertheless, many services still do not reach women to the extent necessary. Policy guidelines, such as the Third Action Plan for Gender Equality, therefore set clear goals for the targeted integration of gender aspects into projects.

The current issue of Development in Brief highlights why it is important to integrate gender aspects into the financial sector, what structural barriers women face and what possible solutions might look like.
