Urban climate change adaptation – five hypotheses for effective action
Urban climate change adaptation will continue to gain relevance in the future against the backdrop of climate change. The latest progress report published by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) clearly highlights the fact that the effects of climate change will be more severe than previously predicted and that the need for consistent climate change adaptation is increasingly becoming a reality – especially in cities in the Global South. Many tried-and-tested climate change adaptation approaches will reach the limits of their effectiveness as the intensity of climate change increases. To be able to respond professionally and effectively to the complex challenges of climate change adaptation in cities in the future, new mindsets and approaches are required.
The following article presents five hypotheses for effective urban climate change adaptation in development cooperation.
