A Country on Its Way Westwards
Georgia borders on Russia in the north, on Turkey and Armenia in the south and on Azerbaijan in the east. It is in Asia Minor, but its people have long called it "Europe's balcony" not only since the Rose Revolution. It covers a surface area of 69,700 square kilometres, making it about the same size as Ireland. Mountains and foothills cover 87 per cent of the country. more

Bilateral Financial Cooperation (FC) between Germany and Georgia began in 1993, and is delivered by KfW Entwicklungsbank on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ). Batumi, the capital of the semi-autonomous region of Ajaria, is Georgia's second most important Black Sea port, after Poti. In recent years Batumi has become an important link in trade between Europe and Asia and attracts tourists.more
