Great efforts still need to be made if the Millennium Development Goal of halving worldwide poverty by 2015 is to be reached. The German Government has reiterated its commitment to this goal on several occasions and pledged to further increase its support. This poses great challenges for all sides - for developing countries as much as donor countries. Now the prime concern is to use the increasing volume of funds efficiently, effectively and sustainably for the benefit of the people.

Thus, KfW Entwicklungsbank has expanded its cooperation considerably during the past years and wants to keep this level in the future. Therefore, in addition to federal budget funds, in Financial Cooperation (FC) we use more and more funds we raise in the capital market. In this way we increase the volume and visibility of official German Development Cooperation and make our voice heard more clearly in the international debate.

To be successful in the future as well we need to hire more staff. We will be substantially enlarge our number of employees. We need people with a long-term interest in development cooperation and who have a high level of personal and social skills because we are constantly dealing with other cultures, advising the German Government and our partners in the developing countries and coordinating our work with other donors. All this requires good foreign language skills and open-mindedness, a good amount of adaptability as well as intercultural sensitivity and communicative skills.

The tasks at KfW Entwicklungsbank are diverse and demanding. Our employees must be flexible and good team players - because of our rotation system alone. Since we are a bank we need economists - but other professionals, too.

Opportunities for Career Changers

We are primarily recruiting all-rounders who can be assigned to different areas. They may be professionals from the most varied disciplines, such as political scientists or ethnologists, agronomists, geographers or engineers - provided they have an academic degree and are knowledgeable in economics.

Through our FC graduate trainee programme we offer young graduates a start and a long-term career perspective. However, we also give career changers an opportunity. If you are development-minded and have relevant professional experience, we would like get to know you. We particularly welcome specialists who are familiar with financial sector development, climate and environmental protection, and water management.

We expect our employees to be willing to go abroad for several years. Working "in the field" is becoming increasingly important. We are continuously expanding our presence in our partner countries in response to the need for modern development cooperation to be locally present and positioned. This means our staff members work alternately in our foreign offices or in national, European and international organisations. Flexibility is also required at the Frankfurt workplace. With its variety of promotional activities, KfW Bankengruppe has a large internal job market that offers additional opportunities, for instance in domestic economic promotion.

If you are interested in taking on exciting assignments in a dynamic and international setting, KfW Entwicklungsbank awaits your job application.
