KfW Entwicklungsbank participated with 14.5 per cent in a capital increase of the First MicroFinance Institution Syria (FMFI). The capital increase of approximately EUR 11.8 million was confirmed on the occasion of the shareholder meeting at the end of July in Damascus. The FMFI was the first institution in Syria to receive a licence as regulated microfinance institution with authorisation for savings deposits; it made an essential contribution to the development of the local microfinance market. more
